ok, so i've been giving this some thought. here goes:
so there's a new trend i've noticed. basically it's using the photo of your dog for one of a few things:
a) social networking profile pictures
b) instant messaging icons
this is all well and good. we all know that you think your dog is adorable, and you want to showcase it's infinite adorableness to the world at large. this is ok. it's acceptable. in most instances, it's even encouraged.
HOWEVER - -
somehow using a photo of your cat brings up a different stigma. it's not cute. it's weird. it's like, geez... is she obsessed with her cat or what? what a weirdo!!
why. i mean, dog owners can use a default picture of their dog, but i build my cat her own myspace page, and now i'm the weirdo? ok, well maybe in that case. ha. but regardless, i just wonder, isn't a cat owner allowed to be just as proud of his or her animal as a dog owner? ugh. i just don't get it.

no, it's because cats are all consorts of satan, and nobody wants to see their evil, malicious eyes glinting at them during an IM conversation.
